イスラエルのウェイター、ウェイトレスの多くは給料をもらわずに客からのチップのみで生計をまかなっている。そのために食事の際には必ず食費の１０％強をチップとしてテーブルに残すのが習慣だ。こいつは観光客だな、と目をつけられた場合は丁寧にその事実を指摘してくれる。僕はそういう話を聞いてついウェイトレスに同情してしまい、２０％くらいのチップを残してしまったりする。それでも接客態度（日本のサービスを基準にすれば、「やる気ゼロ、愛想はそこそこ、客を客とも思わない」くらい）が変わらないところが気に入っている。...
