Musical-wise Dire Straights had a very orthodox rock’n roll style, MTV-wise it churned out retro-futuristic oddies (Money for Nothing), including Calling Elvis: an ingenius idea of combining our childhood dream (Thunderbird) and adult wickedness (Peeping Tom). Make more of them, Mark Knopfler. Stop making easy money touring with fellow British old-timers and becoming a human CD player catering to that one song.
